Former finance secretary Fazle Kabir has been appointed for four years as the governor of Bangladesh Bank in wake of Atiur Rahman’s resignation on Tuesday, according to a Public Administration Division circular. Public Administration Division issued a circular yesterday to the effect.
At present Kabir is the chairman of Sonali Bank’s board of directors. He retired from public service as a senior secretary of Finance Ministry. Finance Minister AMA Muhith announced his apointment at the Secretariat hours after Atiur’s resignation. Kabir is now in the US and will return today.
