A total of nine proposals worth Tk1,544.58 crore, including purchase of power from six private sector electricity plants were approved yesterday at the cabinet committee on public purchase.
Additional Secretary Mustafizur Rahman said joint venture consultant firm Mott Macdonald Limited was appointed as consultant for the ADB-funded water supply project worth Tk155.3 crore.
He said Shajalal Fertiliser factory had approved project contractor M/S Compliant, which will provide a 60-strong workforce and train local workers.
Mustafizur said six power plants will be set up across the country. Chittagong-based Acorn Infrastructure Services Limited will construct a 100MW furnace oil-based plant in Julda and sell electricity at a per unit cost of Tk14.70.
Precision Energy Limited will set up 100MW furnace oil-fired plant at Patiya for the next 15 years. United Enterprise Limited will set up 300MW furnace oil-based plant at Anwara with per unit cost of Tk14.70.
Intraco CNG Limited and the Chinese firm Juli New Energy Company Limited will set up a 30MW solar power plant each at Gangachara in Rangpur for the next 10 years with per unit cost of Tk12.80.
Indian Shapoorji Pallonji Infrastructure Capital Company Limited will set up a 225MW combined cycle dual fuel power plant in Bhola for the next 22 years. The cost of power from this plant will be Tk3.18 per unit for gas produced power and Tk13.56 for diesel produced power.
