Abul Kashem has been appointed as the acting governor of Bangladesh Bank, said a source at the Banking Division of the central bank.
Prior to the appointment, Kashem has been serving Bangladesh Bank as deputy governor, according to the source.
Kashem appointment was made following the resign of Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman.
Rahman resigned from his post in the wake of the recent hacking of Bangladesh Bank's reserve fund.
He submitted the resignation letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at PMO on Tuesday morning, said PM's press secretary Ihsanul Karim.
