The cabinet has approved in principle the draft of the “Press Institute of Bangladesh Act 2016 aiming to train up the journalists.
Besides, the draft of “Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Act-2016" was also approved by the cabinet.
The approval was given at the weekly cabinet meeting held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Monday.
Cabinet Secretary Muhammad Shafiul Alam briefed the reporters after the meeting.
He said “As per the law, the Press Institute of Bangladesh is to be operated by a 15-member board headed by a chairman.”
