A composite factory has been gutted in a devastating fire at Jalkuri Uttorpara under Siddhirganj upazila in Narayanganj.
The fire broke out at Vibjiur Knit Composite around 2am Monday.
Locals said the fire broke out at the warehouse and soon engulfed the other parts of the factory.
Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Assistant Deputy Director Belaluddin said: “On information, four units from the fire service went to the spot and doused the blaze after two hours of frantic effort.”
He said the fire might have originated from an electric short circuit.
A probe committee will be formed regarding the matter, he added.
Factory Chairman Mohammad Shahjahan said: “Threads, clothes and machineries worth crores were burnt in the fire.”
