Pohela Boishakh sexual harassment is a trifling incident and it has very little significance in the city where twenty million people live, Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan has said.
The minister made his controversial comment on Tuesday while speaking at the Dhaka University as the chief guest at an ‘International Women’s Day’ event organised by ‘Natun Dhara’
He posed question: “How important was the incident to draw media attention?”

The sexual molestation of women by a group of harassers at TSC on the Bangla New Year had created countrywide outrage.
The men could be seen on CCTV camera footage but could not be identified, police had said in their final report.
The event was presided over by Natun Dhara Executive Director Shamim Ahmed.
As many as 10 women were felicitated at the event for their contribution to various fields.
