Frequent Flyers’ Opinion Poll has been launched in the capital to select the best Airlines for the year 2015 in various service categories.
Kazi Wahidul Alam, editor of the fortnightly The Bangladesh Monitor, formally launched the opinion poll at a press conference held yesterday at a city hotel yesterday. E J McEwan, general manager of Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel, also addressed the press conference. The Bangladesh Monitor had introduced the Airline of the Year Awards in 2007.
Airlines operating in Bangladesh will be recognised for their service excellence based on the opinion poll of the frequent flyers. Leading travel and tourism fortnightly- The Bangladesh Monitor will conduct the poll that will be supported by Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel and Eastern Bank Ltd as the hospitality and banking partner respectively.
“Our prime object is to create a healthy competition among the airliners, carrying outgoing and incoming Bangladeshi passengers. Inspired by the positive feedback from all concerned, we have decided to hold the 7th edition of the poll this year,” said Alam.
Airlines will be recognised for their services in 13 categories including Airline of the Year, Domestic Airline of the Year and Cargo Airline of the Year. Besides, awards will be given in other categories like- the most popular destination among the Bangladeshi travellers and Best Air Express Company.
Frequent flyers may give their opinion in favour of their preferred Airlines either by filling out a prescribed polling form or voting online (www.bangladeshmonitor.net/ poll2015).
The last date for submission of opinion poll is fixed on April 15, 2016. A jury committee comprising representatives from various professional groups will select the winning airlines based on the opinion poll. Names of winners will be announced at the Gala Award ceremony to be held sometime in May of the current year.
