House of Cards is back – the show that captured the world’s attention with its fast-paced political drama. Season four of this hugely popular series will be broadcast on Netflix starting today.
Created by Beau Willimon, who is also the writer of The Ides of March, the drama series has revolutionised the TV industry with its witty humour and keen take on US politics.
Throughout the three seasons broadcast on Netflix so far, House of Cards has gathered a solid fan base. The central character is Frank Underwood, a politician guided by a single principle in his struggle for power - “the end justifies the means.”
It has been speculated that the fourth season will probably revolve around the same two conflicts - marriage and politics. Frank Underwood, brilliantly played by Kavin Spacey, has to prove his expertise in order to convince the American electorate that he deserves a term as the President of the United States. On the other hand, Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright, will choose to step out of her husband’s shadow to pursue her own goals. It will be interesting to see whether this will create a breach between the two main characters, or whether they will remain united in their differences.
Although Beau Willimon is supposed to leave the show after season four, Netflix has already announced that there will be a season five in 2017.
