Two construction workers died as they inhaled toxic gas while working inside a septic tank in Bogra’s Dublagari area yesterday morning.
The deceased are identified as Zahurul Islam, 35, son of Shahjahan Ali, a resident of Bilantha village in the district’s Sherpur upazila, and Sagor Miah, 22, son of Imdadul Haque, an inhabitant of Naldingi village in Khanpur union.
The duo were working inside the septic tank of an under-construction building when the accident took place.
Police detained the owner of the house, Abul Kalam Azad, for questioning.
Khan Md Erfan, officer-in-charge of Sherpur police station, said firefighters had recovered the two bodies from the septic tank.
“Sohel Rana, station officer of the fire department, became sick after he got down inside the septic tank to recover the deceased,” he added.
