N’ganj seven-murder trial begins

The trial in two cases filed over the sensational seven-murder in Narayanganj has begun through recording witness deposition.

Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge’s court started recording deposition of petitioner Bijoy Kumar Pal at 10:30am Monday. The court will record the deposition of two witnesses in the day.

Earlier, the court deferred the deposition recording on February 25 as police could not produce former RAB official Tarek Sayeed, an accused in the case.

Earlier in the morning, 23 accused including prime accused including Nur Hossain and Tarek Sayeed were produced before the court amid tight security.

On April 27, 2014, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver, and Narayanganj District Judge’s Court senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city. Their bodies were later recovered from Shitalakhya River.

The two murder cases were filed by Nazrul’s wife Selina Islam Beauty and Chandan son-in-law Bijoy Kumar Pal.
