The Election Commission has fixed March 20 for holding the by-polls in Tangail 4 constituency.
EC Assistant Secretary Rajib Ahsan made the announcement on Sunday after the High Court dismissed Kader Siddique's writ to retain his candidacy on February 4.
The parliamentary seat became vacant after former Awami League minister Latif Siddique resigned from the constituency following his expulsion from the Awami League over his anti-hajj statement.
He said: “The candidates can now start their campaign.”
As the candidature of Kader Siddique has been dismissed by the High Court, the candidates who will now run in the by-poll are: Hasan Imam Khan Sohel Hazari from the Awami League, Ataur Rahman Khan from Bangladesh Nationalist Front, and Imrul Kayes from National People's Party.
