Summit to kick off construciton of blocks 2 and 5 in High-Tech Park today

Summit Technopolis is going to lay its foundation stone to develop its awarded blocks 2 and 5 of Kaliakoir Hi-Tech Park in Gazipur under Public Private Partnership today. 

The infrastructure in Block No. 2 is entitled to be signature building while that in block 5 high-tech manufacturing unit. 

The two blocks will spread over 65 acres and 29 acres of lands respectively on the 232-acre park.  

On June 28 last year, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority and Summmit Technopolis signed a concessional loan agreement to construct the park on a design, build, finance, operate, own and transfer basis. 

According to the agreement, Summit will invest US$207.59 million to construct multi-tenant building, convention centre, hotels, customs infrastructure, warehouse and industry area in Block No. 2. 

On August 11, 2015, the government signed another agreement with Bangladesh TechnoSity Limited to develop Block No. 3 of the Hi-Tech Park. 

TechnoSity began construction of development works on October 15, 2015 for expediting its construction.

Initially, TechnoSity will invest US$25 million for construction, and if necessary, the investment would increase 10 times.

As many as 70,000 employments will be created by the Hi-Tech Park while over one more lakh people will be employed indirectly.

The Hi-Tech Park will be equipped with uninterrupted gas, power and high-speed internet connection. 

Hosne Ara Begum, managing director of Kaliakoir Hi-Tech Park Authority, said the investors from home and abroad will enjoy 10 years tax holiday, exemption of income tax for expatriate professionals, 10 years accelerated depreciation, exemption from import duties, 100% exemption of taxes for all exports and 100% equity for FDI companies.
