Day labourers of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation’s (BCIC) fertilizer godown at Mahendranagar in Sadar upazila went on an indefinite strike yesterday demanding arrear payment and increase in their wages.
Listed traders of the district could not lift urea fertiliser from the godown since morning as the workers took position in front of the godown to stop loading of fertilizer.
Day labourers work for loading and unloading fertilisers in the godown alleged that they were not getting their wage for last seven months throwing them in severe financial crisis. They neither received accurate answer from the contractors nor the BCIC officials about the matter.
