Former social welfare minister Enamul Haque Mostafa Shahid has died while undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in the capital.
Mostafa Shahid, 82, was suffering form several diseases including kidney ailment for long. He was admitted to Square Hospital on Tuesday and doctors declared him dead on Wednesday afternoon.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at the death of the veteran politician, BSS reports.
In a message of condolence the prime minister recalled his role in organising the War of Liberation.
She said the death of the dedicated and patriotic leader is a great loss for the party and the nation.
