Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt will be released today around 9am from the Yerawada Central Jail in Maharashtra. Dutt has served more than 50 months out of the five-year sentence pronounced by the court for possession of illegal arms in the March 12, 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case. A regular remission was granted to Dutt by the authorities on account of his good conduct.
During his five-year term in prison, the actor prepared paper bags and received the salary of a “semi-skilled worker” which is currently set at Rs50 per working day. Dutt will be paid Rs450 rather than at least Rs38,000 as he has spent much of the amount on buying daily use items from the prison canteen.
A petition citing inequality has been filed by Pradeep Bhalekar in the Bombay High Court against the release of the celebrity prisoner. Bhalekar had earlier written a letter asking Bombay High Court to stop Dutt’s release. The letter was disposed off by court.
Sanjay Dutt has been advised to take a chartered plane back home to avoid the media glare. Celebrations have already begun to welcome Sanju Baba as his family, including wife Maanyata, kids Shahran and Iqra and sister Priya Dutt, awaits his return. Friends are expected to pour in to meet Baba, as he is fondly called. Scheduling his own plan, Sanjay will be visiting Siddhivinayak temple and will offer his prayers. Afterwards he will be going to visit his mother Nargis’ grave.
As Dutt prepares for his release from prison, Mrs Maanyata Dutt has apparently instructed Sanjay Dutt’s marketing team to let it be known to producers that the post-incarcerated actor will not be available to play negative roles. Positive roles are being whipped by three friendly directors Raj Kumar Hirani, Umesh Shukla and Sanjay Gupta who have scripts ready for the actor.
