A person has been sentenced to life term imprisonment in a rape case in Manikganj.
District Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Hasina Roushan Jahan passed the order on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the case statement, convict Akhil Chandra Rajbangshi raped the plaintiff on June 14, 2008.
After recording depositions of 10 witnesses, the court awarded Akhil life term imprisonment as he was found guilty beyond suspicion.
The court also fined the convict Tk10,000. In case of failing to pay the fine, he will have to serve one more year in jail.
