ASA University students block road in Shyamoli

Students of ASA University blocked road in Shymoli for about one hour in protest against the death of their fellow student in road accident by a police vehicle.

Riaz Uddin Tipu, a BBA final-year student at ASA University, was on his motorcycle when a minibus without a number plate, requisitioned by police, hit him on Monday afternoon. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Protesting the death, the private university students started demonstration on the road in Shymoli around 1:15pm, creating heavy congestion on the busy road.

Mohammadpur police station OC Jamal Uddin Mir told the Dhaka Tribune that police rushed to the spot and cleared the road around 2pm.

The protesters demanded that the culprits to be brought to the book.

Meanwhile, the janaza of Tipu was held in the afternoon. He will be buried at his village home in Gazipur's Salna.

Tipu's elder brother Haris Mohammad said he filed a case with Banani police station in this connection.
