Foreigner, 3 Citibank officials held over ATM scam 

Detective Branch (DB) of police have detained a foreigner and three officials of Citibank for their suspected involvement in the recent ATM card scam. The detainees are Piotr Szczepan Mazurek and Citibank officials Moksed Alam Maksud, Rezaul Karim Shahin and Refaz Ahmed Roni.

Cricketer Shahadat, wife indicted 

A Dhaka court has framed charges against national cricketer Shahadat Hossain and his wife Jesmine Jahan Nitto in a case filed over torturing their 11-year-old domestic help. Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal 5 Judge Tanjina Ismail passed the order on Monday afternoon. The court also fixed March 20 for recording the deposition in the case.

Writ seeks ban on Justice Manik's remark in media 

A Supreme Court lawyer has filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking the court's directives to ban the publication or broadcasting the statements of Justice Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik in all media about the judiciary. SC lawyer Ehsanur Rahman filed the petition on behalf of Advocate Zulfiqure Ali on Monday.

8 fake DB men held in Dhaka 

Eight fake officials of Detective Branch (DB) of police have been arrested from Dhaka. The identities of the arrestees could not be ascertained yet. DB police arrested them from different areas of the capital in a drive conducted from Sunday night till Monday morning.

One held over Manikganj double murder 

Police have detained a person for his alleged involvement with the double murder in Gubindal village under Singair upazila of Manikganj district. Johir Uddin, 65, was detained from Gubindal village on Monday night. Singair OC Syeduzzaman confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.

Bomb explosions kill 140 in Syria 

Bomb blasts in the Syrian cities of Homs and Damascus have left at least 140 people dead, monitors and state media say. At least four blasts struck the southern Damascus suburb of Sayyida Zeinab, killing at least 83 people, state media said.
