John Lennon’s hair has grown pretty expensive

Update : 21 Feb 2016, 06:15 PM

A German hairdresser named Klaus Baruck claims to have once given former Beatles tuft John Lennon a trim in Hamburg in 1967, and saved a lock of his hair ever since. Well, it seems to be a worthy decision, for the barber just sold it for $35,000 on auction.

“To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest lock of Lennon’s hair ever sold at auction,” said Heritage Auctions.

“It can be dated to a specific time and location and has been in the collection of the original owner for nearly 50 years. This haircut took place just a month after the release of the legendary Revolver album. A rare and important opportunity.”

The lock of hair was only one of the several Beatles’ items on auction at Heritage Auctions. Along with it, a photo of the great band, which was signed by all four members of the crew, was sold for $42,500.

The winning bidder for the hair also received a signed call sheet and “two vintage period newspaper articles regarding this landmark haircut,” reported the auctioneer.
