Judge says no

Update : 20 Feb 2016, 06:41 PM

This past Friday caused quite a stir, especially throughout social media, when pop star Kesha was denied the ending of her contract with Dr Luke. Kesha Rose Sebert disputed over her contract in a courtroom, after sexual abuse allegations towards Dr Luke.

Kesha alleges that Dr Luke had drugged and raped her a decade ago and has committed ongoing abuse. The contract disallows Kesha to record outside of Dr Luke’s purview. Her attorneys made clear that careers of pop stars in the business are short and if an injuction doesn’t exist, it will only harm her and her career. After the initial hearing, New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich was quite skeptical.

“You’re asking the court to decimate a contract that was heavily negotiated and typical for the industry,” said the judge to Mark Geragos, who is Kesha’s attorney.

Dr Luke’s perspective was made clear by his own legal representatives. They stated that Kesha and her reps are attempting to extort him in order to escape from her contracts with Luke’s Kemosabe Records lable, housed under Sony. He also denies the sexual abuse and blames her action to becoming frustarted by a stalled career.

After sorting through the mess, Justice Kornreich’s claimed that there was not enough medical evidence, such as hospital records to corroborate to the assuault allegations. “I don’t understand why I have to take the extraordinary measure of granting an injuction,” she conlcuded.
