Shaban Mahmud has been elected president and Sohel Haider Chowdhury elected general secretary of the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) for 2016-17.
DUJ election committee chairman Shafiqur Rahman declared the results of the election after counting of votes at the Jatiya Press Club Saturday evening.
Shaban has been elected president securing 857 votes while Atiqur Rahman Chowdhury has been elected vice president bagging 753 votes.
For the post of general secretary, Sohel Haider Chowdhury polled 534 votes.
