Update : 19 Feb 2016, 03:39 PM

A two-year-old child has been rescued in Comilla on Friday, 39 days after he was abducted from Fatullah in Narayanganj.

Four suspects were also arrested in connection with the kidnapping.

Following the rescue in Comilla's Durgapur area, the child, Mohammad Leon, was brought to Fatullah Model police station in the afternoon and returned to his family.

The detained suspects are Parvin Akhter Shoma, 28; her husband Majnu Miah, 36; Anwar Hossain, 35; and Zaman, 55.

During primary interrogation, Shoma and her husband reportedly admitted of abducting the child and selling him to the other two for Tk5,000.

Quoting Leon's family, Fatullah Sub-Inspector SI Shahidul Islam said Shoma lived near Leon's family in Aliganj area. On January 10, Shoma came to Leon's house and abducted him; she later called the child's father and demanded Tk10,000 in ransom.

The father, Dilu Miah, filed a written complaint with the Fatullah Model police station on February 1.

The police then used mobile phone records to track and arrest Shoma and Majnu on Thursday. Based on their information, Leon was finally rescued from Comilla's Durgapur, while Anwar and Zaman were detained.

Leon's father lodged a case with the station on Friday, accusing the four suspects for the abduction.
