Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu yesterday said the government had a plan to set up television centres at all divisional cities.
“Those television centres would broadcast all types of news, including government’s development activities.
“Initially it will be of six hours, later twelve hours and finally round the clock like Bangladesh Television.”
He said this while speaking at an exchange of opinion sharing meeting with local journalists in Natore.
Natore Awami League President and former state minister Professpr Abdul Quddus, MP, General Secretary M Shafiqul Islam Shimul, MP and vice president Abul Kalam Azad, MP addressed the function with additional deputy commissioner of the district Kazi Atiur Rahman in the chair.
The information minister termed Khaleda Zia as mastermind of militancy and fire terrorism in the country and urged her to leave the country for Pakistan.
Inu said the BNP-Jamaat should be ousted from the country for the sake of democracy.
“Those who have created confusion about number of martyrs in the country have no right to stay in this country,” Inu categorically said. He said Begum Zia was spreading misleading information about the numbers of liberation war martyrs.
The minister said the people of the country are living in peace as the government is fighting terrorism and militancy with iron-hand.
Earlier, the minister visited Rajshahi University and placed wreath on the grave of Dr Shamsuzzoha marking the 47th death anniversary of the professor.
On February 18, 1969, Dr Zoha, the then RU proctor and professor of chemistry department, was shot dead by Pakistani Army while he was requesting the force not to shoot the students who brought out procession defying the section 144.
Afterwards, Dr Zoha’s death sparked violent protests across the then East Pakistan finally leading to the fall of the Ayub regime.
Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University Professor Muhammad Mijanuddin and Treasurer Professor Sayenuddin Ahmed accompanied the minister.
