The Rapid Action Battalion has detained three Nigerian and two Bangladeshi conmen in the Niketon and Bashundhara residential areas of Dhaka.
The identities of the detainees have not been announced by the elite force.
RAB Media and Legal Wing Deputy Director Major Rumman Mahmud Khan said: “The detainees used Facebook to trick people and take their money.”
He said details regarding the matter will be disclosed in a press briefing around 4pm Wednesday.
