Currently there are around 30 million girl children among the 160 million peoples in Bangladesh, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal told the parliament on Tuesday.
According to Population Projection of Bangladesh: Dynamics and Trends (2011-2016), the minister said aged between 0 to 17 years, the number of girl children in Bangladesh is 29,181,000.
According to the information placed in the parliament, Dhaka division has the highest number of girl children.
There are 8,726,519 girl children in Dhaka division while 6,106,135 in Chittagong, 1,664,319 in Barisal, 2,694,382 in Khulna, 3,198,062 in Rajshahi, 2,959,967 in Rangpur and 2,209,052 in Sylhet division.
