A suspected criminal has been killed in a “gunfight” with the members of Rapid Action Battalion in Tongi Nodi Bondor area in Gazipur.
The deceased is Jewel, 25, an accused in several cases including murder. He was also an accused in a case filed for gouging out his wife's eyes.
RAB's Legal and Media Wing Direct Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan said: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a drive in Tongi Nodi Bondor area around 3:30am Tuesday.
Sensing the presence of the elite force, the criminals opened fire targeting the RAB officials.
In retaliation, RAB officials fired back that left Jewel dead while the others fled the scene.
Later, RAB officials handed handed over Jewel’s body to the police in the morning.
