The government has decided to survey the number of street children for their rehabilitation.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki on Monday told the parliament that a decision was made last month in this regard following the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The women and children affairs ministry and social welfare ministry will take up a working strategy and will implement the project jointly to rehabilitate the street children after completing the survey to identify the number of street children within six months in phases.
Replying to a query, the state minister also said a project was already sent to the ministry for rehabilitating the street children and slum children of Dhaka City.
The project is waiting for approval and once it approved street children will be rehabilitated and will get education.
