Update : 14 Feb 2016, 06:23 AM

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has underscored the need for regional cooperation to combat against the transnational crimes.

“Regional help is needed to fight transnational crimes. The regional police should have comprehensive knowledge about the offences as well,” said Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

The minister made the remarks in the inaugural programme of a workshop titled “Transnational Crime: Saarc Perspectives” in Bangladesh Police Staff College in the capital's Mirpur on Sunday.

Some 18 senior police officials from the eight SAARC countries joined the event.

Bangladesh Police Staff College has hosted the workshop for the fourth time in the country.

Bangladesh Police Staff College Rector Fatema Begum said the course would help police officials to be addressed with transnational terrorism, trafficking, pornography, cyber crime, drug smuggling and money laundering.

Home minster thanked the police staff college authorities for hosting such important event every year despite its struggle with various problems.
