Update : 12 Feb 2016, 07:01 PM

Mohammad Sovon Chowdhury bagged two silver medals in the men’s 10m air-rifle category in both the individual and team events of the 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati, India yesterday.

Sovon scored a total of 203.6 points to finish second, only a point behind gold winner Singh Chain of India while another Indian Narang Gagan claimed bronze. Abdullah Hel Baki was below average yet again, finishing fifth.

Bangladesh team comprising Baki, Sovon and Anjan Kumar Singha attained silver in the men’s 10m air-rifle category, scoring a total of 1845.8 points. India took home gold while Sri Lanka clinched bronze.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh football team will take on India in the last four of the Games today. Bangladesh are the reigning champions from the previous Games six years ago and Spanish coach Gonzalo Sanchez Moreno has taken up the challenge of repeating that performance this time around.

Bangladesh women’s football team will also lock horns with India, albeit under different circumstances, today. If the women in red and green earn at least a point against the hosts then they will fight against Nepal for the gold.
