The first phase election in 752 Union Parishads will be held on March 22.
The Election Commission announced the election schedule on Thursday afternoon.
In a press conference, Election Commissioner Md Shah Newaz said the elections will be held in six phases as there is public exams scheduled at that time.
He said the first phase election in 752 Union Parishads will be held on March 22, second phase in 710 Union Parishads on March 31; third phase in 312 Union Parishads on April 23; fourth phase in 728 Union Parishads on May 7; fifth phase in 714 on May 28 and sixth phase in 660 Union Parishads on June 4.
"We have fixed the date but the schedule will be announced locally.
He also said law and order situation will remain under control as the elections will be held in phases.
Issuing a note of warning to the law enforcers, he said: "If we find anything wrong with law enforcers, we will take stern action against them."
