State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim has said no tax would be imposed on SIM re-registration going on across the country starting from December 16 last year.
"Finance Minister AMA Muhith has been wholly convinced when we told him about it recently. The mobile operators should not be worried as a written order regarding it will be announced within one or two days", said Tarana Halim.
She made the statement following inauguration of Telecom Reporters' Network Bangladesh (TRNB) website at a program a held in Secretariat on Thursday.
Earlier, National Board of Revenue made an order to collect tax for SIM re-registration.
