Adabor SI found guilty of sexually harrasing varsity student

An allegation of sexual harassment raised against SI (sub-inspector) Ratan Kumar Howlader from the capital’s Adabor police station has been found true, says the judicial probe report regarding the offence.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Emdadul Hoque sent the judicial probe report to Dhaka Women and Children Repression Tribunal 4 Judge Saleh Uddin Ahmed on Wednesday afternoon.

The tribunal's Bench Assistant Forkan Miah confirmed the report to the Dhaka Tribune. The tribunal fixed February 16 for taking the report into cognisance.

The investigation report said SI Ratan Kumar Howlader took ASA University student into a shop in capital's Japan Garden City in Shekerteck and opened her jacket and handbag.

He ordered the shop owner to leave following shuttering down his shop and he sexually harassed her in the name of searching yaba tablets.

The incident took place on January 31 and the following day, filed a case with the tribunal.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Emdadul Hoque recorded the deposition of five witnesses including, her husband and her mother on Tuesday.
