‘Sufferings for getting corrected ID cards not true’

The Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq refuted the allegation that people had been severely suffering in getting services particularly correction of information in their national ID cards or replacement of lost.

“The allegation that people have been suffering badly in correcting information in their national ID cards is not true. Those who failed to submit supporting documents in their claim of correction causing delay are raising such allegation,” the minister told the parliament replying to a question on Tuesday.

The minister also claimed that people also get their ID cards corrected in a day if they submit their supporting documents.

Anisul made the claim when hundreds of people were seen waiting in long queues for correction of their cards and they complained about poor services.

The minister said election commission corrected a total of 4,41,359 ID cards so far out of 6,13,289 who have applied for correction of their ID cards since 2007.

Of the applications, 5,88757 were filed for changing personal information particularly correction of date of birth and 24,532 applied for correcting mistake made my data entry operators at the NID Wing of the Election Commission.

The minister also said a total of 2,65,148 government officials applied for correction of their ID cards since December 15, 2015 after the government published the gazette of the new pay scale.

Of them, some 1,23,332 government employees have already got their NIDs corrected which would be used to determine their new salaries.
