Update : 08 Feb 2016, 03:40 AM

The police have recovered the body of a five-year-old child from an under-construction elevator shaft filled with water in the capital's Bhashantek area on Monday.

Earlier reports suggested the boy had fallen into an uncovered septic tank.

The deceased nursery school student has been identified as Mohammad Sajid Khan, son of Mohammad Osman Khan.

“Sajid went missing on Sunday afternoon. His family members discovered his body in the water-filled elevator shaft while searching for him. He may have fallen in while playing and probably drowned," Bhashantek SI Nuruzzaman said.

He said an unnatural death case had been filed in connection with the incident.
