Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized drugs and smuggled goods worth Tk48.55 crore during countrywide drives last month, according to a press release released on Sunday.
The release issued by BGB Headquarters on Sunday said 229,000 yaba pills, 23,292 bottles of phensedyl, 1,142 kilogrammes of marijuana, 25,507 bottles of alcoholic drinks, 15,440 stimulant pills, 1,743 ampoules of injected drugs and 2,680,000 other drugs in tablet form.
During the drive, paramilitary forces also recovered 10,416 sarees, 7,439 three-pieces, 23,284 metres of cloth, 5,055 pieces of garment products, 11,957 cubic feet of wood and 1,300 grams of gold.
BGB also seized 4 pistols, two rifles and seven rounds of bullets.
Some 114 were arrested for smuggling and another 241 for illegally crossing the border. They were then handed over to the police, the press release said.
