Designer confesses distorting Bangabandhu's picture in hurry

Update : 07 Feb 2016, 10:04 AM

The designer of a printing house has confessed distorting the image of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a hurry.

Haider Printer's Designer Kabir Hossain made the statement at a press conference at World Trade Centre in Chittagong city on Sunday afternoon.

He said: “I needed a 5 by 5 feet picture but I could not find one. The ones I found would get stretched if I enlarged them.

“So, I informed it to the banner and festoon In-Charge of Chittagong Chamber Rajib Das. He told me that he had a picture of the MP in his mobile phone. He gave me the picture and asked me to use it if I can.”

The designer said: “It is my fault. I did it in a hurry but I had no idea that the matter will turn into such a big issue.”

MP Latif ordered to make the billboard.

Recently, a billboard showed a photograph of the Father of the Nation. However, the posture, attire and shoes did not match with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

It is alleged that MA Latif MP superimposed just the head of Bangabandhu on the portrait of himself as the body did not resemble that of Bangabandhu.

After the distorted image of the Father of the Nation went into viral on social networking sites, leaders and activists of the ruling party Awami League and its front organisation have been staging demonstration against the lawmaker.

They demanded exemplary punishment and cancellation of parliament membership of MA Latif for distorting the image of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
