Bangladesh prisons go digital

A computerised database of all inmates in the country's 68 prisons has been launched.

Primarily, online fibre optical lines have been connected in 48 prisons across the country. The existing prisons will get the server connection in phases.

14-party to protest Khaleda's remark on martyrs

The 14-party alliance will form human chains across the capital on February 15, protesting BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's statement on the Liberation War martyrs.

Nepal requests for holding postponed meeting

Nepal has requested Bangladesh to resume the commerce secretary-level meeting which was postponed after the country expressed its inability to manage time due to ongoing crises.

The meeting was originally scheduled for mid-October 2015 in Dhaka. The two sides are expected to sign an agreement on providing easier market access of their products and remove trade barriers, reports the Kathmandupost.

10 shops gutted in Narsingdi fire

A devastating blaze has gutted at least 10 shops including two jewellery stores in Shaheprotap bazar in Narsingdi town.

The incident took place on Sunday morning.
