Update : 05 Feb 2016, 06:01 PM

A distinctive dance production on muslin, Hawaye Indrojal, will be performed today at the Ahsan Manzil ay 6pm the capital as part of Muslin Festival 2016 at 6pm. Although the performance is confined to selected guests only, it will be aired on Channel i.

Performed by the dancers of Shadhona, Hawaye Indrojal is a story based on the extraordinary history of muslin weaving in Bangladesh (previously East Bengal) and is related by the creative artisans themselves. Commencing from the unique conditions that fostered the cultivation of this special cotton, the story weaves its way through the centuries when muslin captured the imagination of royalty across the world. Alongside depicting the glory of muslin, the production also sheds light on the exploitation of the crafts; the effects of the colonising forces which lead to decline of the industry.

Choreographed by Shabbir Ahmed Khan, this unique piece of dance production wrapped up under the artistic direction of Lubna Marium. Written by Saymon Zakaria and theatrically directed by Shamim Hasan, the production’s music is arranged by Nirjher Chowdhury and Rokon Emon while Anusheh Anadil, Nadia Dora, Dunia and Liton lent their voices.
