Police have recovered the body of a government official's wife in capital's Kafrul area.
The deceased is Mahmuda Begum, 38, wife of Food and Disaster Management Ministry officer Md Jahurul Islam.
Quoting family members, Kafrul police station Officer-in-Charge Shikder Mohammad Shamim Hossain said: "Mahmuda slit her throat with a boti (curved kitchen machete) around 12:30am Thursday. Hearing her scream, her son Maruf rushed to her room and found her with throat slit."
Being informed, police rushed in and took Mahmuda to DMCH where on-duty doctors declared her dead.
Police were interrogating Jahurul Islam at Kafrul police station in this connection.
