Qatar has shown interest to recruit about 300,000 Bangladeshi workers over the next two years, Qatar Administrative Development and Labour and Social Affairs Minister Issa Saad Al-Jafali Al-Nuaimi has said.
He was speaking at a bilateral meeting with the visiting Bangladesh delegation, headed by Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Development Minister Nurul Islam in Doha, reports UNB.
A message received here on Wednesday said to move ahead with the goal, a joint-working group will meet in Dhaka in the first week of March.
The Gulf country has been recruiting construction and cleaning workers from Bangladesh in recent times, whereas the authorities there are now keen in recruiting salesmen, nurses, doctors, engineers and office employees from the country, the release added.
Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam is now on a three-day visit to Qatar.
He is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani on Thursday.
