PM: Bangladesh achieves economic capacity to take big projects

Update : 03 Feb 2016, 07:31 PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday told parliament that Bangladesh had achieved the financial capacity to take big projects like Padma Bridge.

In no way the big projects will hamper other projects, she said. In replying to a query, the premier came up with the statement at the parliament’s question and answer session.

“Bangladesh has achieved its financial capacity to take big projects. All the projects are under proper implementation,” she said.

The premier said it was possible to start construction work of Padma Bridge with own fund on time due to the Awami League’s courageous and independent step.

“The construction work of the bridge is going on in satisfactorily and it would be possible to open the bridge for the vehicular movement by 2018,” she said.

The premier urged the lawmakers to look after the development projects going on in their respective constituencies for smooth completion of the projects.

“The projects are being implemented with peoples’ money. So be vigilant to ensure that peoples’ money is being spent in a proper way,” she said. He said her government has taken steps to construct rail tracks from Padma Bridge to Jessore.
