Parliamentary standing committee on the Home Affairs Ministry wants an inclusion of all the forces including the naval forces into the Coast Guard force.
The standing committee on Home affairs also discussed police personnel’s involvement in various crimes.
The committee at the same time thanked the police force for helping establish political stability and containing militancy in the country.
Presided over by the committee chair Tipu Minshi, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Shamsul Huq Tuku, Abul Kalam Azad and Abu Syeed Al Mahmud Sawapan, among others, participated in the meeting.
Meeting sources said the standing committee members want the inclusion of all forces into the coast guard force.
In the current parliament session, the Bangladesh Coast Guard Bill 2016 was placed.
Abu Syeed Al Mahmud Sawpan raised the incidents of harassments of Bangladesh Bank official Golam Rabbi, city corporation official and a private university student in the meeting.
