The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics obsolete report on the country’s ICT development takes a toll on foreign direct investment (FDI), said State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak yesterday.
The government is facing trouble to bring FDI as BBS did not incorporate up-to-date information in its archive on the country’s advancement on ICT.
“BBS failed to give actual information about ICT development. It is making report with backdated information which leads us to face trouble,” Palak said while speaking at a workshop titled “ICT Use and Access by Individuals and Household in Bangladesh 2013”.
The workshop was held in Bangladesh Computer Council Bhaban yesterday.
“Bangladesh earned $250 million, exporting software and hardware apart from earning $50 million from freelancing, but there is no information of this positive statistics in BBS report,” said the junior minister.
