Update : 02 Feb 2016, 07:38 PM

More than 1,500 free WiFi hotspots provided by Aamra Companies will be available across the country within this year.

With no caps, no restrictions, no conditions, and no fair usage policy (FUP), the internet service is going to be absolutely free.

Currently, the service is available in more than 350 locations in Dhaka, Chittagong, and Sylhet. Users with smartphones are automatically eligible for the free WiFi service.

The hotspots are currently available at the most frequently visited locations in the metropolitans like restaurants, coffee shops, university campuses, shopping malls and regular hangout places.

With expertise in the industry for 31 years, Aamra Companies is an amalgamation of businesses focused on catalysing the modernisation of Bangladesh by providing technology-driven solutions for its clients in various market segments.

“We realise that the vast number of young population in the country is the key to making the dream of Digital Bangladesh a reality in the coming years. We also understand the importance of ensuring continuous accessibility to the internet in order to catalyse the process. Aamra Companies has been working relentlessly towards achieving that,” said Intekhab Mahmud, CEO of Aamra Smart Solutions.

With nearly 4.4 million smartphones imported in 2015, the demand for smartphones in Bangladesh has seen one of the highest rises globally. However, with only 34% penetration, internet usage is still at a nascent stage in Bangladesh. Aamra Companies being an experienced campaigner in the field of innovation and technology, recognises this reality, and its massive expansion plans towards making the internet more accessible to the people in Bangladesh is an indication that Bangladesh is indeed well on its way towards becoming Digital Bangladesh.
