Kader resigns as Jamal president

Update : 30 Jan 2016, 06:30 PM

Manjur Kader has decided to resign as the president of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club. The owner of the top-flight champions yesterday sent a letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, citing “personal” and “health reasons”.

The conundrum is that Kader is the founder and owner of the club that were established in 2010 as Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited. Since then, the club have won three premier league titles, three Federation Cups and the King’s Cup in Bhutan two years ago.

Sheikh Jamal manager Anwarul Karim Helal also confirmed that the letter to the Premier’s office clearly states health reasons. He added that it would only be confirmed once the Prime Minister accepts the “resignation letter”, which Kader sent yesterday afternoon. Helal also hinted that Kader’s departure means the same for the officials, staffs and for himself as well.

Earlier last Wednesday, Kader gave the Bangladesh Football Federation a 48-hour ultimatum to return them their previous players back to the club. He added that if the demand is not met, he would pull out his team from the final round of the AFC Cup. The BFF did not pay enough attention although it pledged to provide support to the club when they play abroad.
