The newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed took over the command of Bangladesh Navy yesterday, according to a press release of Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR).
He succeeded outgoing CNS Admiral Muhammad Farid Habib after his promotion to the rank of vice admiral from rear admiral.
Nizamuddin was adorned with rank badges of Vice Admiral by Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar in presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) yesterday.
Among others, Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, security adviser to the prime minister, Kazi Habibul Awal, senior secretary of the Ministry of Defence, and senior officers of PMO were present on the occasion.
Later, the command handing and taking over ceremony was held at Naval Headquarters in the capital’s Banani. Principal staff officers, all area commanders and high raking naval officers were present in the occassion.
