Government employees, who received time scale and selection grade benefits before December 14, will have to include these details while fixing salaries online, otherwise they will not get their new salaries.
Yesterday, the Budget Wing of the Finance Division under the Ministry of Finance made this announcement in a circular.
The circular, signed by Additional Secretary Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury said that public servants will not get the 8th pay scale hikes unless they include data on their recruitment, promotion and pay grade change in the pay fixation website.
After implementing the 8th pay scale for public servants, the government also made online “pay fixation” mandatory in order to avoid the old lengthy and corruption-prone paper-based system.
The pay fixation website – www.payfixation.gov.bd – went live on December 18 and the process also began on that day.
After launching the online mechanism, Finance Minister AMA Muhith termed it as a breakthrough following 268 years of British and Pakistani colonial rule and in the 44 years of Bangladesh.
Finance Ministry sources said the government would start laying out a plan and a budget for the 2.1 million public servants after all of them fix their salaries online without a flaw.
Officials also said that the new internet-based system would help the government is keeping public administration records better and developing standards.
