Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith yesterday told the parliament that currently there are 1,751,503 individual tax payers in the country.
Replying to a query, the minister said the government has taken various steps to expand the tax net and increase amount of taxes.
Responding to another query, the finance minister said the government has the plan to set up tax office in every upazilas to this end.
He also said tax offices have already been set up in 85 upazilas.
