There are more than 100,000 bank accounts in the scheduled banks of the country with deposits of at least Tk1 crore each, Finance Minister AMA Muhith has said.
The minister made the disclosure in the House on Monday while replying to a query of Md Suhrab Uddin MP from Kishoreganj 2.
Muhith said: “There were 114,265 accounts with Tk1 crore in the scheduled banks as of September 30, 2015.”
As per the statistics he placed in the House, as of December 31, 2014, the number of such bank accounts was 108,974.
The number was 78,150 in 2011; it was 90,655 in 2012 and 98,591 in 2013.
