Rear Admiral Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed, who has been working as Chittagong Port Authority chairman, has been appointed as the new Chief of Bangladesh Navy.
His appointment as Navy chief will be effective from January 27, said a media statement issued by the Inter Service Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) on Thursday.
It also said Nizamuddin was promoted to the rank of vice admiral.
Nizamuddin will be the successor of Admiral Muhammad Farid Habib.
